Rising before the sun has never been on my list of favorite things to do. In fact, I’m more of a night owl by nature.

But, I do currently get up early to get my daughter off to school. Therefore, I AM up before the sun, at least until May or June.

One good thing about that is that I get to see the sunrise.

It was particularly beautiful this morning. So I took some pictures of it. I don’t think these pictures  look as spectacular as the sky did this morning! But I wanted to share them anyway.

It doesn’t matter when they served. It doesn’t even matter if you agree with the the reasons that our government sent them there. I don’t agree with most of the governments reasons for putting out soldiers in harms way.

But I do APPRECIATE the fact that these soldiers are upholding their promise to defend us.

So please thank a Vet!!

Many of these soldiers are suffering from PTSD – Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. This can be devastating for them. Some are so affected that they cannot even lead a ‘normal’ life when they get back home.

I had the privilege of meeting an ‘elder’ this morning. She inspired  me.

Along my travels this morning I stopped at  the farmer’s market. I love the farmer’s market! There are so many wonderful smells and sights! And today a wonderful encounter.

I was standing at a booth were they sell a wide variety of plants. While I was admiring a very vibrant purple heart plant a woman came up and started talking to me about the plant. She said that the single flower on the plant would look beautiful pressed. This lovely lady makes pressed flower greeting cards.

She asked me some questions about the plant and since I used to have one I told her what I know about them. Then we talked some more about pressing flowers and we both went on our way.

I would guess this woman to be in her late 60′s maybe even 70. She moved slowly and deliberately. One could tell by looking in her eyes that she has known sorrow in her life. But she is still living her life. She is still creating beautiful things and doing what she loves!

THAT is what inspired me! I know others in her age range who are simply existing, not really living their lives. Heck, I know people of many different ages who are simply existing and not truly experiencing life.

I used to be like that too. I am ever so grateful that I have awakened and am now experiencing and enjoying life. In the past I may not have even engaged in conversation with that wonderful person I met today.

As I was speaking with her I thought ‘She probably has quite a collection of stories that she could tell’. Many of those stories probably contain a life lesson or two. This led me to a deeper understanding of “Respect Your Elders”

This particular lady would deserve my respect no matter what her age. But the fact that she is my ‘elder’ suggests that she may have more experience and knowledge than I have.

I think that’s what they meant when I was told to ‘respect my elders’.

What they should have said was:

‘Respect knowledge and those who posses it.’

The reality of pain, is either you have it or someone
you love, a family member, friend or co-worker has it.

And whether it’s migraine headaches, arthritis, back

Nicotine is found in tobacco plants. It is the tobacco plant’s natural defense which keeps insects from eating it. Its broad use as a crop insecticide is now being blamed for killing honey bees. It is a mega toxin, drop for drop it is more lethal than strychnine or diamondback rattlesnake venom and three times more deadly than the poison arsenic.
